Prime Minister of Bangladesh Shik Hasina resigned and fled the country

Aug 05 (Jowhar.com) – The Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, resigned and fled her country, after weeks of deadly protests.Hasina, who has been the country’s president for two decades, followed a military helicopter after many people ignored a national curfew and some protesters entered the presidential palace.

The resignation comes after 300 people have died during weeks of protests demanding the resignation of Sheikh Hasina.The streets of Dakar turned into celebratory demonstrations after the news of Hasina’s departure.

The commander of the armed forces announced that an interim government had been established and urged the protesters to stop the violence.He also promised that he will fulfill the demands of the protesters and bring justice to those behind the killings.

Pictures from national television showed thousands of people entering the prime minister’s official residence. It also showed crowds of protesters lining the streets in scenes of joy as news of Hasina’s departure began to spread.
