Deforestation of the Amazon: Indigenous peoples of the Amazon are suing the French supermarket chain

The owners of one of France’s largest supermarket chains, Casino, have been accused of selling beef from cattle raised in the Amazon rainforest in a lawsuit filed by NGOs and indigenous peoples in Brazil and Colombia on Wednesday. They say that Casino contributes to thousands of hectares of Amazon that are destroyed every year for the beef industry.
