Russia reported a fresh barrage of Ukrainian drones overnight, as officials said strikes on two logistics centres left eight people dead and dozens more hurt, while the Moscow region braced for another wave of attacks.
More than 370 drones were launched toward the Moscow region during the night, according to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
“Most were neutralised by air defence forces at distant approaches,” he wrote on the state-backed MAX platform.
He added: “64 enemy UAVs were destroyed on approach to Moscow.”
Ukraine has intensified attacks on targets inside Russia, framing the campaign as retribution for more than four years of Russian strikes on Ukrainian territory.
“Seven night-shift employees were killed when enemy UAVs hit a Wildberries logistics centre,” Tambov region Governor Evgeny Pervyshov said.
“According to preliminary information, 24 people were wounded” in the strike on the town of Kotovsk, he added.
Wildberries, a Russian firm, said in a statement that its logistics complexes in Kotovsk and Elektrostal, in the Moscow region, were attacked.
“The fire that broke out at the facility in Tambov region has been contained”, the company said, adding that firefighters were still working at the Elektrostal site.
In Elektrostal, one person was killed and 37 were injured at the warehouse, Moscow region Governor Andrei Vorobyov said.
Mr Vorobyov also reported a separate blaze “at an oil depot in Noginsk”. Two people were injured, and a nearby maternity hospital was evacuated “for safety reasons”.
Residents saw thick black smoke rising above the town this morning, while several fire engines were spotted heading there from Moscow.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine struck two major logistics facilities in Russia’s Moscow and Tambov regions and also hit a Russian oil facility.
Posting on Telegram, he said the logistics sites were used by Russia to supply sanctioned components for drone production and navigation equipment.
Mr Zelensky added that Ukraine’s mid-range strikes also hit targets in the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea.
Russia, meanwhile, launched an attack on Ukraine’s Odesa port infrastructure today, striking a vessel under the Antigua and Barbuda flag and killing one person, Odesa regional governor Oleh Kiper said.
Mr Kiper said on Telegram that three people were injured and that infrastructure facilities — buildings, storage tanks, and warehouses — were damaged.
US-led diplomatic efforts to end the fighting have stalled in recent months, as Washington has shifted focus to its conflict with Iran.
