French architects Anne Lacaton and Jean-Philippe Vassal received the 2021 Pritzker Prize

With sustainable low-impact housing and public buildings that put residents at the center of design and construction, Jean-Philippe Vassal and Anne Lacaton have built their careers on a resourceful and respectful approach to the built environment. New from winning an award often called “The Architect’s Nobel”, the French couple joins us in the studio to talk about their zero demolition philosophy and why frugality is a natural ecological answer to the problems we face today.

We also discuss their renovation and revitalization of the Bois le Prêtre social housing project, as part of an urban renewal system in Paris.
