Aug 28 (Jowhar) – Ethiopia has said that its national security is in danger, and the steps taken by the Egyptian military in Somalia are leading the region to an unstable stage.
The government of Addis Ababa, said that it will not ignore what it called actions that hurt or affect its security in the region, and argued that hostile words are coming from Somalia, which it said has sacrificed its blood.
This issue comes to the attention of Egypt, which in the past 48 hours has sent military equipment, military experts and many resources to Somalia, and they have been sent to Mogadishu.
The Egyptian government has not provided a clear explanation for its military presence in Somalia, leading to speculation and concern among neighboring countries. Ethiopia, in particular, has expressed alarm at the potential implications of Egypt’s actions in the region.
Tensions between Ethiopia and Egypt have been high in recent years, particularly over the construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam on the Nile River. The two countries have been locked in a bitter dispute over water rights, with Egypt fearing that the dam will restrict its access to the Nile.
The situation in Somalia has added another layer of complexity to the already strained relationship between Ethiopia and Egypt. The Ethiopian government has called for dialogue and peaceful resolution to the conflict, but it remains to be seen how the situation will unfold in the coming days.
