Hassan Sheikh and Erdogan discussed the maritime crisis and the resumption of talks

Aug 12 (Jowhar.com)-The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud spoke on the phone with the President of Turkey Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Their talks emphasized the close relationship between the two countries, the importance of security and stability in the region.

The two Presidents once again reinforced the cooperation strategy of the two countries, especially defense cooperation and economic development.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud underlined Turkey’s role in promoting peace talks to resolve the challenges facing the region.

The President of the Republic noted that Somalia welcomes Turkey’s efforts to promote and negotiate between Somalia and Ethiopia, stressing that any cooperation respects the independence, unity, and national borders of Somalia, in accordance with the law and the international system.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed Turkey’s commitment to continue supporting Somalia in its efforts to strengthen security, stability, and development. He also commended the progress made by the Somali government in various areas, including security sector reform and economic development.

The two leaders agreed to further enhance cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, education, and healthcare. They also discussed the need for continued collaboration in addressing common challenges, such as terrorism and piracy in the region.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud thanked President Erdoğan for Turkey’s ongoing support and reiterated Somalia’s commitment to deepening ties with Turkey. The call ended on a positive note, with both leaders looking forward to working together to further strengthen the bilateral relationship between their two countries.
