NISA arrested men carrying explosive mines in Mogadishu

Aug 06 (Jowhar.com) – The National Intelligence and Security Forces have arrested four people with explosives in Mogadishu who are accused of belonging to Al Shabaab.

The arrested men were said to be carrying mines intended to carry out explosions as stated in a statement from NISA.

“The National Security Agency (NISA) forces have carried out an operation in Mogadishu and arrested four conspirators from the Khawarij, who were carrying landmines that they planned to harm the Somali people,” the statement said.

Security in Mogadishu has been tightened since a direct attack and a foiled explosion were carried out on Lido beach where more than 30 people, mostly young people, were killed and more were injured.

Following the recent spike in attacks by Al Shabaab, the Somali government has vowed to increase security measures to protect its citizens. The arrests of these individuals with explosives is seen as a major success in the ongoing fight against terrorism in the country.

The government is urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. The Prime Minister has also called for unity and cooperation among all citizens in order to combat the threat of terrorism and ensure the safety and security of the nation.

The international community has expressed support for Somalia in its efforts to combat terrorism and has offered assistance in strengthening its security forces. The fight against Al Shabaab remains a top priority for the government as it works towards achieving peace and stability in the country.
