Garowe, Somalia – The Social and Environmental Development Organization (SEDO) Somalia marked World Humanitarian Day on August 19th with a special event in Garowe, the capital of Puntland State. The celebration was attended by Puntland’s Vice President, government ministers, representatives from UN agencies, and other officials, highlighting the collective efforts of humanitarian workers.
The event recognized the dedication of first responders, volunteers, and aid professionals who work tirelessly to support communities affected by crises. Aisha Ahmed, a representative of SEDO Somalia, emphasized the importance of honoring humanitarian efforts worldwide.
“It’s a day to honor the global community that supports those affected by crises. From first responders to volunteers and professionals providing aid, these humanitarians work tirelessly to restore hope in times of need,” said Aisha Ahmed.
She further called on attendees to appreciate the courageous individuals in Puntland, Somalia, and beyond who dedicate their efforts to humanitarian service.
“Let’s celebrate and salute the courageous individuals in Puntland, Somalia, and beyond who make the world a better place,” she added.
The event underscored the importance of humanitarian principles and the need for continued support for those on the front lines of crisis response. SEDO Somalia reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening humanitarian initiatives and advocating for policies that enhance aid efforts across the region.
