Nov 09 (Jowhar) – The Minister of Defense of Somalia, Abdulqadir Mohamed Noor, said that the Ethiopian forces have been officially excluded from the new operation of the African Union forces, which will begin in Somalia in early 2025.
“Ethiopian forces have been officially excluded from the new mission of the African Union forces in Somalia starting early in 2025, because Ethiopia has violated the independence and territorial integrity of Somalia,” said the Minister of Defense of Somalia.
He also pointed out that this new mission will be different from the previous missions in many ways, one of which is that new countries will be seen.
This issue is related to the conflict between the governments of Somalia and Ethiopia, which resulted from the agreement at the beginning of this year that Abiy Ahmed entered into with the president of Somaliland Muse Bihi.
Several talks between Turkey and the foreign ministers of Somalia and Ethiopia have not yielded any results, while another meeting is expected.
