The National Development Conference discussed the unification of development efforts

The meeting of the National Development Council was held yesterday Sunday in Mogadishu. The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Planning, Investment and Economic Development of the Federal Government of Somalia, and the chairman of the National Development Council, Mr. Mohamud C. Sheikh Farah (Beenebeene).

The Minister of Planning of Jubbaland, Mr. Abdirahman Abdi Ahmed, the Minister of Planning of Galmudug, Mr. Ahmed Ali Mohamed, the Minister of Hirshabelle Planning, Mr. Mohamed Abdi Ali, the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of South West Planning, Mr. Mohamed Noor Abdi, Director General also attended. of the Ministry of National Planning, Mr. Mohamed Shire, Directors General of Regional Governments, Director of Departments of the Ministry of Planning, and senior advisers.

The meeting was focused on how to speed up the important activities of the National Development Council and how to unify development efforts across the country.

Important points of the meeting

1. Continuity of Meetings:

The National Development Council has agreed to hold meetings of the Council to strengthen cooperation in all work activities between the Ministry of National Planning and the Planning Ministries of the member states of the Federal Government.

2. National Transformation Plan (QIQ: 2025 -2029):

The Council has collectively focused on accelerating the preparation of the National Transformation Plan which will replace the 9th National Development Plan. State governments will be supported in the preparation and review of development plans to align with the National Transformation Plan.

3. The Displaced Persons Solution

The council agreed to find a lasting solution for the displaced people in the country and to increase the completion of the preparation of the National Plan for Sustainable Solutions. This plan is designed to remove one million displaced people from their displacement situations according to the National Strategy for Sustainable Solutions.

4. Investment Promotion:

The council agreed to strengthen efforts to encourage international investment to shift from humanitarian aid to the development of the country. He called for the completion of all the draft laws (Federal and State level), especially those before the Parliament such as the Somali Investment Law.

5. Monitoring and Evaluation:

The Council agreed to strengthen the Monitoring and Evaluation system in the country to ensure that all projects in the country are in line with the National Development Plan. He welcomed the approval of the National Policy on Monitoring and Evaluation by the XFS Cabinet, and the strengthening of the implementation and enforcement of the policy.

The National Development Council consists of the Ministries of Planning at both levels of Government (Ministry of National Planning and Ministries of Planning of the Regional Governments of the country), which promotes cooperation and development of the country’s plans.
