Armed group attacks a house in Mogadishu with a bomb explosion
Oct 5 (Jowhar) – An unidentified armed group carried out a bomb attack on a house in Mogadishu shortly after the Isha prayer tonight. The explosion is reported to have been caused by a grenade, though it has not been officially confirmed.
Reports indicate that the explosion occurred in Waberi district at Mogadishu city, targeting a house occupied by Abdulkadir Hassan Abdi, who works for Mercy USA, an international humanitarian organization under the United States government.
Although Abdulkadir was not home at the time of the explosion, one of his friends present at the house was injured. The blast caused significant fear among Abdulkadir’s family, who were at home during the incident.
The attack on Abdulkadir appears to be linked to repeated threats he had recently received from anti-government groups. These groups have been pressuring him to cease working with international humanitarian organizations, which they perceive as opposing their destructive goals of spilling innocent blood.
Anti-peace groups have previously carried out similar attacks targeting numerous employees of foreign organizations. Some of these attacks have resulted in the deaths of many, injuries to others, and the kidnapping of several individuals. Such incidents have forced many promising youth to flee the country in search of safety.
