Latest news on the explosion in Kismayo

Oct 13 (Jowhar) – Additional details have emerged about a powerful explosion that occurred this afternoon in Kismayo, specifically in the Farjano neighborhood, with its blast widely heard across the city.

The explosion, caused by a planted explosive device, was attached to the vehicle of one of the staff members of United Nations agencies, particularly UNDP, which has an office in Kismayo. However, it is still unclear if anyone was harmed in the incident.

Eyewitnesses reported that the intended target, identified as Ibrahim Abdullahi Hussein, survived the explosion, which occurred just minutes after he exited his car and entered his home.

Security forces arrived at the scene of the explosion, temporarily halting the movement of people and vehicles. The car was reported to have been heavily damaged.

Officials from the security agencies told local media that Ibrahim had recently received multiple threats via phone calls from terrorist groups. These groups had threatened to kill him if he did not immediately cease working with United Nations agencies or leave the Country.
