Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has reported the death of a senior Al-Shabaab leader, Ali Raaxo. According to a statement released by the government media, Raaxo was shot on the outskirts of Afgoye district in the Lower Shabelle region.

Raaxo was known for his role as the representative of Al-Shabaab, extorting money from businessmen and the people of Mogadishu while threatening the city’s residents. He was also known to make threatening phone calls to individuals, using various hideouts, including Garas-Gawaan, Gandarshe, Lafoole water wells, and Galka Salimow.

This development comes as the Somali government continues to intensify its efforts to defeat Al-Shabaab militants in the country. In recent years, Al-Shabaab has carried out numerous attacks, targeting government officials, military personnel, and innocent civilians.

The Somali government has been working closely with international partners, including the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), to counter the threat posed by Al-Shabaab. The government has also been working to improve security in the country, including the establishment of a national security force and the deployment of additional troops to high-risk areas.

Despite these efforts, Al-Shabaab remains a significant threat to Somalia’s stability, and the group continues to carry out attacks. However, the death of Ali Raaxo is a significant blow to the group, and it is hoped that it will weaken their ability to carry out attacks and extort money.

The Somali government has called on the public to continue to support their efforts to defeat Al-Shabaab and to report any suspicious activities to the authorities. The government has also reiterated its commitment to improving security in the country and creating a stable and prosperous future for all Somalis.
