Volodymyr Zelensky is cleaning house among the regional officials responsible for military recruitment, who are suspected of corruption. The offenses range from illicit profits to illegal enrichment and money laundering…

The Ukrainian president’s decision follows an investigation that uncovered more than a hundred irregularities, abuses of power, and corruption within these recruitment offices.

In response, the head of state has decided to start fresh: all the chiefs of these military recruitment offices have been dismissed and replaced by former combat officers who have experience on the front lines.

The popular General Zaloujny, commander-in-chief of the armed forces, will be in charge of appointing these new recruitment leaders. This sends a strong signal to the Ukrainian population, as well as to the European Union – which Ukraine wishes to join – that the Ukrainian government is actively combating corruption in all circumstances.
