The Ethiopian ambassador was detained for 72 hours to leave Somalia

Apr 04 (Jowhar.com) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Somalia informed the Ethiopian Ambassador to Mogadishu to leave the country within 72 hours, while the Somali Ambassador to Addis Ababa was instructed to return to the country.

This decision from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs follows the decision of the Council of Ministers in response to the actions of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, which violate the sovereignty and internal affairs of Somalia.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia issued the following measures:-

1- The Ambassador of the Federal Government of Ethiopia to Somalia Mr. Muqtar Mohamed Waare has been informed that he will leave Somalia within 72 hours.

2- To close the Ethiopian consulates in Hargeisa and Garowe within seven days.

3- That the Ambassador of the Federal Government of Somalia in Addis Ababa be called to Mogadishu, for full consultation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Somalia said these measures were taken to protect the independence, unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
