Thousands of parties violate Covid-19 restrictions to attend Marseille’s carnival

Authorities in the French city of Marseille have expressed outrage after about 6,000 people gathered for an unauthorized carnival to celebrate the first day of spring. Many of the parties at the #LaPlaine carnival wore no masks and security forces made several arrests for property damage while others were fined for violating coronavirus restrictions.
