Despite its accolades at the British Independent Film Awards this past weekend, the music biopic Kneecap did not receive a nomination for Best Motion Picture – Non-English Language.
US actors Mindy Kaling and Morris Chestnut announced the shortlist live on Monday, where Emilia Pérez—which tells the story of a Mexican drug lord who changes gender—secured 10 nominations, and Ariana Grande received her first Golden Globe nomination.
The actress and singer was nominated for Best Supporting Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical for her portrayal of Glinda in the film adaptation of the popular Broadway and West End musical Wicked. She will compete against Selena Gomez and her co-star Zoe Saldana for their roles in Emilia Pérez.

Meanwhile, Cynthia Erivo also earned a nomination for Wicked in the Best Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical category, alongside Zendaya for the romantic sports film Challengers, Karla Sofia Gascon for Emilia Pérez, Demi Moore for the horror film The Substance, and newcomer Mikey Madison for Anora.
The Brutalist, featuring Oscar-winner Adrien Brody as a Hungarian Jewish architect who survives the Holocaust and relocates to the United States, received seven nominations, while the papal drama Conclave followed closely with six nods.

Anora, which centers on a young sex worker who marries the son of a Russian oligarch, received five nominations, as did Demi Moore’s horror film The Substance.
In the television categories, the comedy-drama The Bear leads with five nominations, followed by Shōgun and Only Murders in the Building, each with four.

The awards ceremony is set to take place on Sunday, January 5, at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. The winners will be selected by 334 entertainment journalists from 85 countries.
