Gatwick Airport Terminal Evacuated Due to Suspicious Package
British police have dispatched an explosive ordnance disposal team to Gatwick Airport following the discovery of a suspected prohibited item in luggage.
The south terminal of the airport has been evacuated, and a security perimeter has been established, according to the statement.
Prior to this, a representative for the UK’s second busiest airport stated: “A significant portion of the south terminal has been evacuated as a precaution while we proceed with our investigation of a security incident.”
“Passengers will not be permitted to enter the south terminal during this process.”
Train services at the station have also been halted.
The embassy has resumed normal operations, as indicated in a statement.
“The US Embassy is operating normally again, although all public appointments… for 22 November have been canceled,” the embassy reported on X.
“Local authorities investigated and cleared a suspicious package located outside the Embassy.”
