Haifa Stabbing Attack Leaves One Dead, According to Medics

A stabbing incident at a bus and train station in the Israeli city of Haifa resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries, according to medics, with police labeling it a “terror attack”.

“A terrorist exited a bus, attacked several civilians with a knife, and was subsequently subdued by a security guard and a civilian present at the scene,” the police stated.

The assailant was identified as a member of Israel’s Druze minority from the northern town of Shfaram, who had returned to Israel last week after spending several months abroad.

Attacks involving individuals from the Arabic-speaking Druze community are infrequent, as they are typically viewed as having strong loyalty to the Israeli state.

This attack occurred amid stalled negotiations between the two sides after the initial phase of the Gaza ceasefire concluded over the weekend.

Medical teams reported the death of a man in his 70s and are currently providing treatment to and evacuating four others who were injured, as confirmed by Israel’s Magen David Adom emergency service.

Among the injured are a man and a woman in their 30s, as well as a 15-year-old boy, all of whom are in serious condition.

Israeli police categorize incidents linked to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as “terror” attacks.

Initially, the police had classified the incident as a shooting.

Haifa, the coastal city, is known for its diverse Jewish and Arab population.

Hamas labeled the attack a “heroic operation,” asserting it was in response to Israeli “crimes” against Palestinians.

This comes on the heels of reports that two Palestinians were killed in Israeli drone strikes in the central part of Rafah in southern Gaza, according to medics and Hamas media.
