Individual Charged for Threatening to Assassinate Donald Trump

A man from the United States, who goes online by the name “Mr Satan,” has been charged with making threats to assassinate President Donald Trump and other officials, as announced by the Department of Justice.

Shawn Monper, 32, has been arrested and charged in a federal criminal complaint for “making threats to assault and murder” Mr. Trump and various US officials, including agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

According to the DOJ, the FBI received an urgent message regarding threats made on YouTube by a person identifying himself as “Mr Satan,” which was linked to Mr. Monper’s location.

Coincidentally, Mr. Monper is from Butler, Pennsylvania, where an assassination attempt on Mr. Trump occurred during a campaign rally last July.

On February 17, he posted: “Nah, we just need to start killing people, Trump, Elon, all the heads of agencies Trump appointed, and anyone who stands in the way,” referencing Mr. Trump’s billionaire adviser, Elon Musk.

“Remember, we are the majority; MAGA is a minority in this country, and by the time it’s time to make the move, they will be weakened. Many will be crushed by these policies and will want revenge too. American Revolution 2.0,” he allegedly stated, as per the DOJ.

Later, on March 4, in a YouTube video titled “Live: Trump’s address to Congress,” Mr. Monper claimed he was “going to assassinate him myself,” added the DOJ.

Mr. Monper is a resident of Butler township, the site of a shooting last July 13 that nearly resulted in Mr. Trump’s death, when a would-be assassin’s bullet grazed the Republican’s ear during an outdoor campaign rally. The incident resulted in one fatality and three injuries.

“Rest assured that whenever and wherever threats of assassination or mass violence occur, this Department of Justice will find, arrest, and prosecute the suspect to the fullest extent of the law, seeking the maximum appropriate punishment,” stated Attorney General Pam Bondi.

A detention hearing is set for April 14.
