Israel Reports Strikes on Various Hezbollah Targets in Lebanon

Israel’s military announced that it has targeted “multiple” Hezbollah positions in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon, marking two months since a fragile ceasefire with the Lebanese organization followed significant hostilities last year.

“The sites hit include a Hezbollah terrorist installation that contains underground facilities for developing and manufacturing weapons, along with additional terrorist infrastructure located along the Syrian-Lebanese border, utilized by Hezbollah to smuggle arms into Lebanon,” the military stated in a press release.

According to the military, the overnight strikes were carried out against targets that “posed a threat” to Israel and its forces.

Yesterday, the military reported intercepting a Hezbollah “surveillance” drone that was approaching Israeli territory, asserting that this “constitutes a violation of the ceasefire agreements between Israel and Lebanon.”

The Israeli army failed to meet a deadline of January 26 to withdraw completely from Lebanon, and now has until February 18 to do so.

Israel has made it clear it does not plan to adhere to the deadline, claiming that the Lebanese army has not met its obligations under the agreement.

According to the terms of the ceasefire, the Lebanese army is supposed to position itself in the south as Hezbollah withdraws its forces north of the Litani River, approximately 30km from the border.

The Iran-backed militant group must also dismantle any remaining military infrastructure it holds in the southern region.
