Multiple injuries reported in bus accident involving Irish passengers in France
A bus transporting a group of Irish holidaymakers has been involved in a collision in southern France, close to the Spanish border, resulting in over a dozen individuals sustaining what are believed to be minor injuries.
The 44 Irish tourists are on vacation with the travel company Travel Department and are staying in Roses, located in northern Spain.
Today marks the third day of their week-long trip.
The bus was returning to their accommodation after a day trip when it was struck by a car that was driving on the incorrect side of the road in Mont Louis.
Passenger Tiernan Dolan from Longford recounted that a car lost control and collided with the bus, causing facial injuries to several individuals.
He noted that the bus was “very high up the mountain, so it’s a good thing we didn’t go over the edge.”
More than a dozen individuals were injured during the bus’s collision with a car.
Dolan mentioned that numerous emergency personnel were present at the scene, whom he described as “superb”.
According to him, passengers who were transported to the hospital had bleeding faces, but their injuries appeared to be minor.
“Everyone experienced a bit of a jolt, and there was considerable shock,” he added.
The group is currently awaiting transport to their Spanish accommodation in Roses.
Dolan reported that the travel operator, Travel Department, had sent a text message to inform the passengers of its awareness of the incident and that it was taking all necessary measures to assist.
The Department for Foreign Affairs has been approached for a comment.
