One Killed, Five Injured in Ohio Shooting; Suspect Still At Large

A shooting incident deemed “active” in Ohio has resulted in at least one fatality and five injured, according to police, with the suspected shooter still on the run.

The incident took place late last night in New Albany at KDC/One, a cosmetic warehouse, leading to “one death” and leaving five individuals with gunshot injuries who were subsequently taken to medical facilities, stated the city’s police chief, Greg Jones.

“We believe we may have identified the suspect’s location. Currently, we do not consider them a widespread threat to the community,” he informed reporters during a press briefing held near the shooting scene.

“This appears to have been a targeted attack,” he added, mentioning that authorities evacuated around 150 individuals and that a firearm was recovered from the warehouse.

Mr. Jones noted that law enforcement is focused on apprehending the suspect before providing further details about their location.

“This is a tragic event. Such incidents have occurred throughout the United States, and we had hoped it would never take place here,” Mr. Jones remarked.

Gun violence is alarmingly prevalent in the United States, where the number of firearms exceeds the population.

Since January 1, there have been at least 26 mass shootings defined as incidents involving four or more victims, whether dead or injured, as reported by the Gun Violence Archive database.
