Russian Strikes on Kharkiv Result in One Fatality and Nearly 30 Injuries
A guided bomb attack by Russia on an apartment complex in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, has resulted in the death of one person, a child, and left 29 others injured, as reported by Kharkiv Regional Governor Oleg Synegoubov via Telegram.
Located approximately 30km from the Russian border, Kharkiv has faced relentless Russian aerial assaults throughout the past two and a half years of conflict.
Earlier, Mr. Synegoubov mentioned that at least three individuals were “trapped under the rubble,” which includes a woman and a child.
“Rescue teams are working to free them,” he stated.
The airstrike caused significant destruction to multiple floors of the building, he noted.
Footage shared online depicts a large hole in the facade of the high-rise structure.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urged his Western allies to take decisive action in reaction to the attack.
“Every moment they hesitate translates to at least dozens or even hundreds of additional Russian bombs targeting Ukraine. Their decisions impact the lives of our citizens,” he remarked on Telegram.
Mr. Zelensky has appealed to Western nations to enhance Ukraine’s defenses, particularly in terms of long-range weaponry.
