Seventeen People Killed in South Africa Shooting

Authorities in South Africa have initiated a manhunt following the tragic shooting that left 17 individuals dead in a town located in the eastern region of the nation.

According to a police statement, “In one residence, 13 fatalities were recorded, comprising 12 women and one man. In a separate location, four more individuals were killed. An 18th individual is currently hospitalized in critical condition.”

Reports from South African media indicate that the series of shootings took place on Friday night in Lusikisiki, a town in the Eastern Cape province approximately 200km southwest of Durban.

National police chief Fannie Masemola stated on SABC public television, “We remain unaware of the motive” and “we do not know if there is a single suspect or multiple suspects still at large.”

The perpetrators involved in this incident have yet to be apprehended.
