Six Killed in Overnight Russian Strikes on Ukraine
Last night, Russian missile strikes in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro resulted in the deaths of four individuals, including a child, while a teenager and another victim were reported killed in attacks on Kyiv and its surrounding areas, according to officials.
The attacks occurred less than 48 hours after Russia concluded a three-day summit of the BRICS group of emerging economies in Kazan, where President Vladimir Putin encountered international calls to bring the conflict to an end.
“Following everything discussed in Kazan, Russian aggressors have returned to their typical activities,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated this morning.
“This serves as further evidence that aggression cannot be quelled through dialogue, but requires decisive actions to defend the state,” he added.
According to Dnipropetrovsk region governor Sergiy Lysak on Telegram, twenty individuals sustained injuries in Dnipro, among them four children.
Images shared by the governor depicted rescuers sifting through debris, while another showed a hospital room with shattered windows.
In separate nighttime attacks on the capital Kyiv and its surrounding region, two people were killed, which included a teenage girl who lost her life in a drone strike, as confirmed by regional authorities.
Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv, have faced lethal drone and missile strikes throughout Russia’s invasion.
As Moscow intensifies its assaults on energy infrastructure, Kyiv has been seeking additional air defenses from its allies in preparation for what is likely to be its most challenging winter yet.
