Starmer Prepared to Deploy Troops to Ukraine if Necessary
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has expressed his readiness to deploy troops to Ukraine if necessary to safeguard the security of Britain and Europe.
The UK is taking a leading position in supporting Ukraine in its conflict with Russia, which “also means being prepared to provide security assurances to Ukraine by potentially positioning our own troops on the ground if needed,” Mr. Starmer stated in the Daily Telegraph.
“I do not make this statement lightly,” Mr. Starmer emphasized, acknowledging the “significant responsibility that comes with the possibility of placing British servicemen and women in danger.”
“However, any involvement in ensuring Ukraine’s security also contributes to the security of our continent and this nation.”

Additionally, he mentioned that he would be meeting with US President Donald Trump “in the coming days,” highlighting that the UK has “a unique role” in fostering close cooperation between Europe and the United States.
“US support will continue to be vital, and a US security guarantee is crucial for a lasting peace, as only the US can deter Putin from launching further attacks,” Mr. Starmer remarked, referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The leaders of numerous European countries are anticipated to attend the meeting ahead of the third anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24.
European nations are concerned that if Ukraine is coerced into an unfavorable agreement by the US, it would allow Mr. Putin to claim victory, thus leaving the continent vulnerable to a more assertive Russia.
“We are facing a once-in-a-generation moment regarding the collective security of our continent,” Mr. Starmer cautioned in his article.
“This issue transcends the future of Ukraine – it is existential for Europe as a whole.”
