Ukraine Reports Russian Forces Breaching Border from Kursk
According to Kyiv, Moscow is utilizing infantry to invade the Ukrainian border from the Kursk region of Russia, which is partially under the control of Ukrainian forces.
Last August, Ukraine initiated a surprise offensive into the Kursk region, aiming to capture territory that could later be exchanged for Ukrainian land currently under Russian occupation.
The Kremlin has mobilized a substantial military presence, including troops from North Korea, to attempt to dislodge Ukrainian forces that are defending stretches of territory, specifically targeting the town of Sudzha.
A government agency in Ukraine that focuses on countering disinformation reported that Russian troops have been employing infantry to conduct assaults on the Ukrainian border near Novenke, highlighting the intensifying struggle for Ukraine.
In other developments, the Ukrainian army announced the destruction of an ammunition depot near the occupied town of Selydove in the eastern Donetsk region.
The Kremlin has asserted its annexation of the Donetsk region in late 2022, with the complete takeover of the Donbas area—comprising Donetsk and Lugansk regions—remaining a key military objective.
Simultaneously, Ukraine disclosed that its drones had targeted a Russian oil refinery located in the eastern Krasnodar region.
The Ukrainian air force reported that Russian forces launched 208 drones, including Iranian-designed Shahed-type attack unmanned aerial vehicles, against various targets throughout the country.
