US Singer D4vd to stand trial over murder of teenage girl
Singer D4vd could face a death sentence or life in prison without the possibility of parole

A judge has ordered US singer D4vd to face trial, setting the stage for a high-profile court case involving allegations of murder and the dismemberment of a teenage girl.

The 21-year-old artist, born David Anthony Burke, was charged in April in connection with the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Her body was discovered in September last year, just days after what would have been her 15th birthday.

After a five-day hearing, Judge Charlaine Olmedo said prosecutors had presented sufficient incriminating evidence for the case to move forward.

Burke, who broke through in 2022 when his track “Romantic Homicide” surged to viral popularity on TikTok, now faces the most serious accusations in criminal court.

He has pleaded not guilty to one count each of murder, continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14, and unlawful mutilation of human remains.

If convicted, he could be sentenced to life in prison or face the death penalty.
